HALPERN’S LTD. MANUFACTURING CODE OF CONDUCT
Halpern’s believes very strongly that our success
can only be ethically achieved through a fair and equitable partnership
with our customers, our suppliers and our staff.
To this end, we do not choose suppliers or clothing lines that are
manufactured under conditions that we would not accept for our families
or ourselves.
Our policy is much more than “full compliance with local laws” – we
do not do business with any facility where conditions are not first-class.
Suppliers are chosen only when we are sure of their product quality,
reliability and adherence to humane and ethical practices in all
aspects of their operation. Ongoing monitoring and spot-checks ensure
that our high standards are maintained.
As part of our commitment to ensuring ethical practices, Halpern’s
is a participant of the Retail Council of Canada’s Responsible
Trade Working Group, the only uniform company selected for this honour.
Halpern’s Ltd. requires each supplier to certify that all
our apparel is manufactured under safe, just and healthy conditions.
They are required to ensure that all practices are in accordance
with the HIGHER OF the labour standards of the ‘International
Labour Organization’ (ILO) or local labour laws. These employment
standards were developed by the International Labour Organization,
a tripartite (business, labour and government) agency of the United
Nations.
